The Air-O-Swiss 7131 cool mist ultrasonic humidifier uses high-frequency vibrations to turn the water into a micro-fine mist, which is blown into the room, where it immediately evaporates. AIR-O-SWISS ultrasonic humidifiers consume very little power. A replaceable demineralization (Ag+ Ionic Silver Technology) cartridge ensures water mist without lime scale or mineral residues. The tri-band microbial protection system guarantees that the water can be kept free from harmful bacteria and viruses.

Setup/Care

• Cleaning: The recommended cleaning intervals depend on the air and water quality, as well as operating times. Every two weeks the water tank and base should be cleaned and rinsed with water only. Only use the brush that is included to clean the membrane once a week. Change the water in the tank at least once a week if water is standing for more than a week.
  
  
• Replacements: The ionic silver stick is unique, patented solution for killing bacteria and viruses and needs to be replaced approximately once a year. The demineralization cartridge has to be replaced every 2-3 months. If the water is very hard, it may be necessary to replace the cartridge earlier. White dust around the device is a sure sign that the cartridge needs replacing.

Expert Review

Most cool mist humidifiers are quite noisy and therefore can be annoying as they click on and off when the desired humidity level is reached in a room. Kudos to Air-O-Swiss for having designed one which is not only near silent but also prevents bacteria from building up in the water tank, or white mineral dust from being blown around the room. We take a very good view of this humidifier but just wish there was a larger water tank for those of us who are lazy about refilling it at night. If you prefer to have a built in digital humidistat, we suggest considering the Air-O-Swiss 7135 model which offers easier and more controlled operation.
