Description
Your thermostat is a temperature sensitive switch that controls your heating system. When the temperature inside your home drops below the thermostat setting, the switch then turns on your heating system to adjust to your desired room temperature. It is a very simple device yet many people have old manual thermostats that do not offer the latest in setting options. Upgrading to a programmable thermostat allows you to set your heating system to a desired temperature (68 degrees) based on when you're home and awake and then lowering the temperature when you're sleeping or away from the home. The fact is that when you set your thermostat back by 10 to 15 degrees for those 8 hours of sleep, you should see a savings of up to 20% a year on your heating bill.
