How it Works
ZEOLITE - Zeolites are molecules that look like a honey-comb and with ions that are negatively charged by nature It acts like a cage attracting all the positively charged toxins, heavy metals, allergens, etc. into the Zeolite like a magnet. After the positively charged elements bond with the zeolite they are flushed out of the air naturally with no harmful side effects.
About the Austin Air Pet Machine Filtration System:
- 360° Progressive 4 Stage Filtering System: Features a 360° air intake system; clean air flows out from one side and the upper deck outlet.
- STAGE 1 - Large Particle Pre-filter removes particles easily seen by the naked eye (e.g. dust, hair and pet dander).
- STAGE 2 - Medium particle pre-filter removes small to medium size particles (e.g. molds, spores and pollen).
- STAGE 3 - 15 lbs. of specially mixed carbon/zeolite blend including the special component ammonasorb, reduces odors caused by pets and other chemicals, gases and odors (e.g. ammonia and sulfuric acid).
- STAGE 4 - 60 ft. of true medical grade HEPA removes pet allergens such as dander and dust, as well as thousands of other micro-organisms (e.g. bacteria and viruses) at a 99.97% efficiency down to 0.3 microns.
Product Usage
Keep in mind the 1500 sq. ft. air cleaning capacity specification assumes the unit is running consistently on high speed, which is not how most people operate their air purifiers. It will perform much more efficiently in a smaller room on a lower fan setting. For example, when used on low fan speed 75 CFM it can effectively clean a 141 sq. ft. size room at four air changes per hour.

Pet lovers can expect excellent filtration from the Pet Machine thanks to the quality 4-stage filter system. It is essentially the same unit as the Austin Air Healthmate and Healthmate Plus, with additional features to accomodate pet lovers. The 15lb. carbon mixture includes much more zeolite and also includes a special additive called "ammonasorb." Ammonasorb improves the Pet Machine's ability to reduce ammonia-based pet odors. At the unit's highest speed, it is capable of filtering up to 1,500 square feet. However, it will perform more efficiently in a smaller room at a lower setting.
The Pet Machine has a excellent 5-year warranty and as with other Austin Air purifiers, it is UL, CSA, and CE approved.
