How it Works
The models consist of a frame and lid. The lid has a unique lip, so that this lip fits securely into the frame. The frame serves as a barrier or dam to keep insulation from entering into your living area. With a two-piece unit, you only pick up the lid when you enter and exit the attic. This makes it less bulky and lighter to use. When you enter your attic through a pull down ladder or hatch opening, you simply grasp the handle(s) of attic cover lid, pick it up and set it on the attic floor. When you leave the attic, simply reverse the process and set the lid into the form fitted frame. When it closes, you can feel the snug fit. You create a tight air seal without having to secure any tightening straps

The Energy Guardian insulating attic covers are designed to save you lost heat in the winter and lost cooled air in the summer. These devices easily pay for them in the first year of ownership. It is important to note that while these covers do what they say, there is a fair amount of installation required to get one set up. Depending on the model purchased, you must first construct the the frame work and then seal the frame to your attic floor. You will need a screwdriver and some latex caulking to seal the cover to the attic floor. Mind you, this is not a difficult job but one that will proabably take anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes of your time. We know the results will be worth the effort!
