Big things come in little packages! The Energy Saving Dryer Vent Closure System is a small, simple way to bring about big changes in your energy bill

Why Green

  • Conserves energy
  • Reduces exposure to allergens

Expert Rating:

Conventional dryer vents often act as an "escape hatch", allowing outside air to enter your home through the exposed opening. This can increase heating bills in the winter and cooling bills in the summer. The Energy Saving Dryer Vent Closure System eliminates this problem, as well as the possibility of insects and other small creatures entering the home. The unique "shuttle cup" closure is designed to remain securely closed when the dryer is not in use. Most conventional dryer vents will remain open because of freezing weather or an accumulation of debris. Also, the Dryer Vent Closure System can be painted to blend with the exterior aesthetics of your home. It can also be installed in bathroom vents and range hoods for your kitchen, saving energy and cost throughout your home.

  • Safe Simple yet safe design and materials
  • Whole system is lightweight and compact weighing under 10 lbs.
  • Durable sturdy, high impact plastics built to last
  • Easy to maintain User friendly and easy to clean
  • "Shuttle cup" design maintains a tight seal from outside air, insects and birds

Remove the vent lid periodically and clean out any lint build-up, which may restrict free movement on the floating member.

Product Usage

Other Uses:

Bathroom Vent
When the bathroom is vented on the side of the house, follow the appropriate instructions given for your type of siding or building material. When venting through the roof, the elbow is not used. The vent canister fits over the top of the existing 4" (outside diameter) pipe. For proper venting, the canister must rest at least 6" above the roofline. If the existing pipe is too small, use a 4" (outside diameter) pipe reducer to adapt the existing pipe to the proper size. Use plastic cement to adhere the canister to plastic pipe. If the existing is not plastic, a "friction fit" will keep the canister in place.

Range Hood
The vent is easily adaptable to any fan vent that has a duct smaller than 6".

Great Product! Date: September 14, 2010
Pros: high quality, effective, reliable, easy to use, met my expectations
This is one of the most effective energy saving devices that I have installed in my home. This replaces the old style louvered door dryer cover. The old style is just not effective as lint gets trapped in the louvers and they end up staying wide open which is bad for heat transference as well as bugs getting in the house.

Once installed the air exits the dryer as per normal but once it enters the dryer vent cover, it has push up a round hatch to escape and then the air is pushed downward instead of straight out. When the dryer turns off, the rising hatch closes and creates a true seal that prevents air from getting in.

I used expanding insulation foam, the kind that comes in a can to seal around the edge which is flush with my home's shingles to further prevent any heat loss.

I recommend cleaning out the lint every three months or so. The cleaning is easy too. Just pop off the lid and use a shop vac to suck everything out.

The dryer vent closure can also be painted so that it does not stick out like a sore thumb.
