How it Works
Recycled plastic lumber is made from recycled HDPE #2 milk jugs. The lumber is formed through what is called the extrusion process. The recycled plastic is cleaned, shredded, and ground using plastic shredders and granulators. The plastic granules are then fed into the plastic extruder. The plastic in the extruder transports, melts, and mixes the granules all at the same time. The melted mass is then formed into the desired shape, cooled and cut to desired length.

The technology for the manufacture of recycled plastic lumber is approximately 20 years old. Lumber dimensions are formed either through molding or an extrusion process, the process of converting the plastic to lumber. Plastic lumber has little resemblance to vinyl and other plastic products - it is 50-75% heavier than wood and has a slight grain as a result of the extrusion process. RPL has a greater consistency, purity and color fastness than wood lumber. All our plastic lumber has an added UV inhibitor for fade-resistance.
We are proud to offer our GreenandMore.com outdoor furniture. Not only is it comfortable and attractive but it is a remarkable innovation in the craft of recycling matrial. Each piece is made from recycled plastic lumber (RPL), which is derived from recycled milk jugs. This keeps the plastic out of landfills and helps support recycling programs. Another aspect that enhances its eco-friendliness is that fact that RPL is more durable than wood, so it will last longer. This also means it has a better cost value, a definite plus. Because it's rugged and easy to clean, it really is the ultimate in outdoor furniture.
