How it Works
Soapstone cookware may be used in the oven, on the stovetop-gas or
electric, or on the grill*. A pre-heated griddle or pan make even tabletop cooking possible, turning out sizzling steaks and seafood. Soapstone cookware is perfect for fast cooking at extremely high temperatures or slow cooking on barely a flame.
Serving: Soapstone stores and radiates twice as much heat as metal cookware - so, no worries about warm foods or appetizers cooling off before serving. Equally impressive at storing cold, Naturstone will keep your food or drink chilled for hours.
Product Usage
A one-time seasoning with just oil and heat turns soapstone cookware a lustrous black. It also strengthens the stone and creates a virtually non-stick surface.
Use soapstone for: a rich and creamy risotto, home fries on the grill, breads, stews, soups, stir-fries, the perfect pizza, steaks and shrimp at the table, fajitas, a "warm board" for cheeses, hot or cold hors d’oeuvres, chilled wines, cold soups, seafood presentations, etc. etc. The possibilities are endless!
Craftsmanship
Handmade in Brazil entirely from solid blocks of soapstone. Soapstone is not a composite. Geologically speaking, the soapstone, or less colloquially, steatite, from which our cookware is made is just a little softer than granite. Once cured, through a couple of applications of oil and heat, it becomes even harder. The curing process, as well as continued use, darkens the stone to a lustrous black color. Together, the strength and natural beauty of the stone, as well as its natural properties of heat conduction and retention, create an extremely versatile cooking and serving tool. Frying, stews, pizza, any kind of grilling or broiling, slow cooking - these are all possible with soapstone.

Efficiency
Because soapstone retains heat better than traditional cookware - twice as much as cast iron – preparing food with soapstone cookware will help you make delicious meals in a more energy efficient way. It's also a green product to use for serving food because soapstone retains heat, so you will not need to worry about wasting energy on reheating. Nor will you have to worry about keeping chilled things cold if you serve on your Naturstone cookware. Using soapstone cookware is one of the many ways you can green your kitchen and reduce your carbon footprint.
